Paul Collins Beat is finally coming to our shores

Paul Collins, one of the pioneers of powerpop, playing in bands such as The Nerves, The Breakaways and more notably The Beat is finally coming to Australia.

Collins will link up with Sydney pop/rock outfit The Zeros with Glenn Morris (formerly of the Screaming Tribesmen and Kings Of The Sun) taking on the lead guitar work.

Collins has returned to his roots with his new record King Of Powerpop his best work since The Beat’s classic self titled debut album, and their equally memorable follow up ‘The Kids Are The Same’. The set list is chock full of driving guitar beats and melodic hooks, fun and raucous rock’n'roll from one of pop music’s great unsung heroes.

The Nerves gave us Blondie’s classic Hangin On The Telephone, and Collins delivers many more gems in the genre. In the words of Mr Collins: I cant believe it, its finally happening we will be ripping!!!

“This album (King Of Power Pop) is like The Beach Boys and The Beatles partying with The Replacements and The Ramones. Its a feel good bunch of songs that are much welcomed in a time when theres so much negativity in the world today. So is Mr. Collins the King Of Power Pop? Maybe. Maybe not. But either way, this album is definitely up there with the best of them.” – LONG GONE LOSER MAGAZINE / AUSTRALIA
