Sydney band, DRILL was a four piece that formed in 1992.

They have an experimental mixture of sounds but are intense and abrasive to say the least!!

After 6 months of playing in and around Sydney, they toured Melbourne on the back of a Zen Studios compilation “The Gospel According to St Peters”.

It wasn’t long before they started making a name for themselves with their heavily distorted sounds and theatrics.

In 1993 they released a limited edition 7″ titled “Ballman” which quickly sold out.

Although they never really had a contracted manager or agent, many bands selected drill as a support act. These bands included, Frenzal Rhomb, Front End Loader, Budd and Lawnsmell. They toured Melbourne half a dozen times and supported the like of Spiderbait and Shihad.

In 1995 they released the E.P “Spin Dry the Adjudicator”, making it to number 5 in the Red Eye Charts. They heavily toured for the E.P and featured at Sydney’s Metro for a Eddie Magazine Launch. After this show, the band stopped as some members were chasing Uni degrees.

In 2012 Drill has reformed and will try and penetrate the tinnitus of unsuspecting punters.

Australian rock band The Lazys, are hitting the road once again in support of their brand new EP titled ‘Temptation Never Liked You’.

Aiming to capture their unique raw sound, the band mixed things up and decided to record the EP at popular Newtown music venue ‘Notes Live’! The project was then given to Matt Lovell (Silverchair, Cold Chisel, Eskimo Joe, INXS) who established the perfect balance between a band tracking in a studio and one belting their tunes out on stage!

Since 2007 the band has been touring their iconic rock show around the country giving their punters more than a blasting!! Once again the band has drawn on its honesty and angst to deliver yet another great release. And, like any Australian rock band should, The Lazys continue to work live, never follow and rock hard!

With Every Pre Sale ticket you receive a FREE copy of the EP, so be sure to check out their gig guide and get your tickets today!

Punk rock Illuminati The Celibate Rifles & The Seminal Rats join forces this coming Nov, for 3 blistering shows.

The Celibate Rifles are more than just an Aussie Punk Rock band, they’re an Australian institution! After nearly 3 decades producing 15 plus albums of original flat-knacker rock, it’s been a long road for boys from Sydney.

Seminal Rats were one of the first bands outside of Sydney to embrace the high energy rock ‘n’ roll which bands like Radio Birdman had produced in the late seventies. There had been others like the Chosen Few and legendary Sick Things and the Rats helped set up a high energy rock ‘n’ roll scene in Melbourne which lasts to this very day.

AGENT ORANGE – AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2011

The original Southern California punk/surf Power Trio, Agent Orange have been around since… forever. Never bought in, never sold out. Still flying under the radar after all these years, with a loyal following that’s always one step ahead.

Named after the chemical defoliant used by the USA in the Vietnam War, Agent Orange were one of a number of bands formed in the highly active “So-Cal” hardcore scene of Fullerton, Orange County, comprised Mike Palm (vocals, guitar), Steve “Soto” Rodgers (bass) and Scott Miller (drums). However, Rodgers left early in their development to form another local punk attraction, the Adolescents. His replacement was James Levesque who has since been replaced by Brent Liles (ex-Social Distortion)

Agent Orange remained largely quiet during the early part of the 90s save for a live album. Palm returned in 1996 with two new members and a studio album, Virtually Indestructible.

X-Spurts – Album Launch

X crawled out of the drummer’s basement where they had been rehearsing for 3 weeks and X-plode onto uneXpecting Sydney subculture back in 1977.

Riots, blood, broken glass death and shattered venues followed in the wake.

34 years later the long lost X-tapes have emerged. Imagine the sound of heavy oak doors creaking open as we descend into the vault that hides the safe where these potentially inflammatory tapes had been locked away with the general public’s safety in mind for the last 3 decades. Cobwebs and dust lie thick on the furnishings and floor…

X is about to be reborn!!! It lives! IT LIVES!!!!!

This is the real thing. The original line up captured on tape all those years ago then put under lock and key! Ian Krahe and his razor guitar, Ian Rilen with his bludgeoning bass, Steve Caferio with his bombastic and lethal Ludwick kit with Steve Lucas screeching and howling manically at the moon!

With his former brothers at arms now deceased, Steve Lucas has been forced to cast his gaze far afield to find the ‘right’ kind of people to help launch this belatedly new album.

Be sure to see the next wave brand of X-Music (lead by the man that won’t die) Steve Lucas, when they pool their resources to launch the latest X/AZTEC release … X-Spurts!

Naturally they will also be performing songs from X-Aspirations and At Home with You plus new material from X-Spurts!!!!

HITMEN RETURN FOR 2 SHOWS ONLY!

After 12 months of hibernation, The Hitmen are returning to fight “In The War Against The Jive” when band guitarist and Australian Rock Legend Chris Klondike Masuak (Radio Birdman/Screaming Tribesmen) returns to Australia to join The HITMEN for 2 shows atThe Sandringham Hotel, Newtown Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st October 2011!!

The HITMEN promise to deliver 2 hours of brash, bombastic and inspired rock n roll mayhem each night and will play songs that some fans have never heard before on stage!

Expect anything when it comes to guest performers on the nights!! With expert guitar duelling and precision rhythm warfare, the HITMEN are notorious for luring renowned rock’n’roll soldiers everywhere to join their cause on stage.

Last year saw the band fused for a national tour with none‐other than Detroit punk rock diva, Niagara, and the party didn’t stop there! In their 30th year as a band, the HITMEN were united with plenty of like‐minded Rock n Roll mercenaries, including Ron Peno of Died Pretty, Mick Blood of the Lime Spiders, Mick Medew of the Screaming Tribesmen, as well as original Hitmen‐now‐Hoodoo Guru Brad Shepherd for the now‐legendary gig at Tempe’s Jets Club! Throw in several Psychotic Turnbuckles, and the ambush army against apathy was unassailable!

The HITMEN are back in 2011! They sold their soul so long ago to keep Rock n Roll alive, who knows when we’ll get to see these Rock n Roll Soldiers again!

Get there early as tickets are limited and supports are amazing!

Both nights promise a blitzkrieg from start to finish with reinforcement from fellow faithful recruits to the rock’n’roll rationale. On Friday, Hell Crab City deliver their rough’n’tumble pub‐rock, along with the no‐holds‐barred Bitter Sweet Kicks who’ll be blazing their own trail. On Saturday, Jessamine leaves the solo life behind to enlist with drum and bass, before the Lazys put all bullshit aside and attack music like only they can!

“THE HITMEN – ROCK’N’ROLL SOLDIERS IN THE WAR AGAINST THE JIVE”
* New ALBUM OUT NOW on Savage Beat “Dancing Time 78‐79”

The Screaming Tribesmen were one of the most enduring and powerfully melodic bands to emerge from the rich Australian underground rock scene of the 1980s. If the indie chart-topping single “Igloo” had been their only legacy they would have been long remembered, but they produced a stack of other memorable songs and toured every nook and cranny of Australia, as well as throughout the US and Europe.

Led by guitarist-vocalist Mick Medew, a veteran of cult band The 31st, the Tribesmen emerged in Brisbane in 1981 as a ‘60s-influenced power trio. The original line-up of Medew, John Hartley (bass) and Murray Shepherd (drums) produced an independent EP and two singles before dissolving. Relocated to Sydney, Medew formed several versions of the band before settling on guitarist Chris “Klondike” Masuak (Radio Birdman, the Hitmen), bassist Bob Wackley (Razar) and drummer Warwick Fraser (Feather, Hoi Polloi). This line-up would last seven years and firmly established itself with the “Date With A Vampyre” and “Top of the Town” EPs before signing to American label Ryko and releasing the “Bones and Flowers” album.

The Screaming Tribesmen had the happy knack of being able to marry power and melody, sprinkling a set of strong originals with lesser-known covers borrowed from the Dictators, the Verterbrats, Paul Collins Beat and Lou Reed. Medew had (and still possesses) one of the most distinctive voices in the country and Masuak’s tightly-coiled and lyrical lead-guitar was an ideal foil. Wackley and Fraser were the inspiring engine room that provided Rolls Royce propulsion.

A successful 1988 US tour eventuated and the band’s “I Got A Feeling” single topped the charts in Los Angeles and gained heavy MTV play. Back in Sydney, an anti-pollution rally in front of 200,000 people at iconic Bondi Beach turned into a farewell and the band dissembled shortly after. Medew continued with various line-ups and focused on Europe, releasing the “Take Cover” EP and “Blood Lust” and “Formaldehyde” albums before calling it a day in 1993.

Masuak would rejoin the HITMEN for 2 SHOWS @ The Sandringham Hotel and then a rejuvenated Radio Birdman as well as play in his own bands, the bluesy Juke Savages and the rocking and still active Klondike’s North 40. He now lives in Spain. Medew fronts Brisbane-based Mick Medew & the Rumours and plays solo shows. Wackley lives in the US and Fraser in Sydney, both staying musically active in local bands.

Interest in the band remained strong down the years with retrospective and collections like “The Savage Beat of the Screaming Tribesmen” (Shock) and “Anthology 1982-93” (Raven) strong sellers.

The offer to reform couldn’t have come at a better time with members able to arrange their schedules to be in Australia. It’s an opportunity for old fans and those who only know this legendary band through recordings to assemble behind the rallying cry: “All Hail the Tribesmen.”

A Tribute Show

Fri 9th Sept @ Woolooware Golf Club, Woolooware

Sat 10th sept @ The Esplanade Hotel, St Kilda

Featuring

Damien Lovelock / Rob Younger / Link Meanie / Carrie Phillis / Shaggin Wagon

This is a special night, one night only when some of Australia’s finest, pay homage to the Great bands of New York.

On Boxing Day 1999, The Celibate Rifles played their recorded-live-at-CBGB album ‘Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang’ at Goldmans (Newtown RSL) and asked Shaggin’ Wagon to open the proceedings with a set of New York punk classics in honour of that iconic venue (CBGB, not Goldmans…)

Eleven or so years later, the memory of that set still burned inside Rifles’ vocalist Damien Lovelock, and he had the bright idea to revisit it on a somewhat larger scale…and this is the result.

Songs from VELVET UNDERGROUND, BLONDIE, TALKING HEADS, RAMONES, TELEVISION, PATTI SMITH, NEW YORK DOLLS, DICTATORS, SUICIDE, BLUE OYSTER CULT and many more.

Shaggin’ Wagon (with special guest stunt guitarist Matt Galvin of the Happy Hate Me Nots & Kent Steedman Of The Celibate Rifles) will be the house band for the evening, playing something close to that long-ago set to open with, then inviting guest vocalists Damien Lovelock (Celibate Rifles), Rob Younger (New Christs/Radio Birdman), Link McLennan (Meanies/The Bakelite Age) and Carrie Phillis (Booby Traps/Downtown Three) to lay waste to some of their favourite songs by New York born or based groups from the ’60s until now. This is sure to be a Once-In-a-Lifetime line-up!

Featuring

DAMIEN LOVELOCK (The Celibate Rifles)
ROB YOUNGER (The New Christs, Radio Birdman)
LINK (The Meanies, The Bakelite Age)
CARRIE PHILLIS (Booby Traps/Downtown Three)
SHAGGIN WAGON
