Collins’ greatest claim to fame is perhaps his collaboration in the creation of the song Hangin’ On The Telephone, originally recorded by his seminal 70′s pop band The Nerves, then later covered by Blondie to become their global breakthrough hit.

Collins continued his notoriety by playing in The Breakaways before forming The Beat (or the American Beat as they were known in the ‘80s) and releasing the formidable power pop albums The Beat (self titled) and The Kids Are The Same. Those releases are still noted today as the power pop album templates from that era. Collins has continued to ply his trade over the decades touring in the US and Europe with a successful underground reputation.

The live set for the Australian visit will be an across the board selection from three bands and a solo career from 18recorded albums, including songs such as Walkin’ Out on Love, Rock’n’Roll Girl, Hangin’ On The Telephone and the Australia top 20 chart hit, A Different Kind Of Girl, performed with his Australian pick-up band, The On And Ons (previously known as Sydney-based group, The Zeros) featuring guitarist Glen Morris (Kings Of The Sun/Screaming Tribesmen).

A special four-track EP, Mostly recorded in Australia on his last visit, with Michael Carpenter and Glen Morris’, will be available as a ticketing bonus to all pre-sales for the shows (first 50 internet ticket buyers in each city).

Dee Minor and the Dischords have delivered Raw Energy to the stage of Australian Pubs and Clubs since 1978.

Heavily touring around the country in the early 80′s with Midnight Oil, Radiators, Cold Chisel, The Angels, MiSex, Swanee, Choirboys, Divinyls, INXS, Matt Finish, Mental As Anything, IceHouse, Rose Tattoo and others, they brought a unique brand of entertainment to the pub scene.

Based in Sydney, and headlining their own shows from 1981 to 1987, Dee Minor and The Dischords ripped up stages with their wild brand of rock and live on stage energy! After returning to the stage from a ten year absence they fired back in “The Boys Are Back In Town” shows from 1997 – 1999.

Once again headlining select shows this year in 2012, Dee Minor and the Dischords are today celebrating more than 30 years together and are still delivering an outrageously wild rock show.

The Meanies will be up here in Sydney this coming weekend to play 3 killer shows.. But the most interesting part of this mini tour is that the Meanies are being supported by “Cruelty’s Fun”, a Meanies cover band on Fri 16th @ The Sando..

Link doesn’t seem to be too fazed when asked if he was worried that the Meanies cover could steal the show from them. Link replied,” I think it would be great to have them kick our ass, they will probably even play songs that i dont remember how they go, so in a way, its going to be like an out of body experience, im very much looking forward to it”

So head along to the show and see which Meanie will win..

Consisting of all original band members Ben Salter (lead vocals, guitar), Consisting of all original band members, Ben Salter (lead vocals, guitar), Steve Lynagh (drums), Ben Tuite (guitar), and Matt Tanner (bass) Brisbane’s Giants of Science have been peddling their particular brand of rock’n’roll for much longer than is healthy, but like all good vices they are hard to kick, except when passed out on your floor.

Their music reels between frenetic rock, monstrous riffs and majestic shoegazer atmospherics, underneath vocals which are all at once visceral and delicate. It is a sound which led Dave Grohl to hand-pick Giants of Science as support for the Foo Fighters QLD flood benefit gig in March 2011. Other supports of note include Swervedriver, DKT/MC5, Radio Birdman, Mudhoney, Rollins Band, J Mascis, Mark of Cain, Powderfinger, You Am I, Front End Loader, and A Perfect Circle.

Giants of Science have recorded and released 2 studio albums (The History of Warfare and Here is the Punishment), 1 live album (Live at the Troubadour) and 2 EPs (Blueprint for Courageous Action and Sisters). 2012 sees them lurch once more onto the stage and into the studio, in what could only be described as a series of frivolous acts of masochism. It hurts being this good!

Sydney band, DRILL was a four piece that formed in 1992.

They have an experimental mixture of sounds but are intense and abrasive to say the least!!

After 6 months of playing in and around Sydney, they toured Melbourne on the back of a Zen Studios compilation “The Gospel According to St Peters”.

It wasn’t long before they started making a name for themselves with their heavily distorted sounds and theatrics.

In 1993 they released a limited edition 7″ titled “Ballman” which quickly sold out.

Although they never really had a contracted manager or agent, many bands selected drill as a support act. These bands included, Frenzal Rhomb, Front End Loader, Budd and Lawnsmell. They toured Melbourne half a dozen times and supported the like of Spiderbait and Shihad.

In 1995 they released the E.P “Spin Dry the Adjudicator”, making it to number 5 in the Red Eye Charts. They heavily toured for the E.P and featured at Sydney’s Metro for a Eddie Magazine Launch. After this show, the band stopped as some members were chasing Uni degrees.

In 2012 Drill has reformed and will try and penetrate the tinnitus of unsuspecting punters.

Australian rock band The Lazys, are hitting the road once again in support of their brand new EP titled ‘Temptation Never Liked You’.

Aiming to capture their unique raw sound, the band mixed things up and decided to record the EP at popular Newtown music venue ‘Notes Live’! The project was then given to Matt Lovell (Silverchair, Cold Chisel, Eskimo Joe, INXS) who established the perfect balance between a band tracking in a studio and one belting their tunes out on stage!

Since 2007 the band has been touring their iconic rock show around the country giving their punters more than a blasting!! Once again the band has drawn on its honesty and angst to deliver yet another great release. And, like any Australian rock band should, The Lazys continue to work live, never follow and rock hard!

With Every Pre Sale ticket you receive a FREE copy of the EP, so be sure to check out their gig guide and get your tickets today!

Punk rock Illuminati The Celibate Rifles & The Seminal Rats join forces this coming Nov, for 3 blistering shows.

The Celibate Rifles are more than just an Aussie Punk Rock band, they’re an Australian institution! After nearly 3 decades producing 15 plus albums of original flat-knacker rock, it’s been a long road for boys from Sydney.

Seminal Rats were one of the first bands outside of Sydney to embrace the high energy rock ‘n’ roll which bands like Radio Birdman had produced in the late seventies. There had been others like the Chosen Few and legendary Sick Things and the Rats helped set up a high energy rock ‘n’ roll scene in Melbourne which lasts to this very day.

AGENT ORANGE – AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2011

The original Southern California punk/surf Power Trio, Agent Orange have been around since… forever. Never bought in, never sold out. Still flying under the radar after all these years, with a loyal following that’s always one step ahead.

Named after the chemical defoliant used by the USA in the Vietnam War, Agent Orange were one of a number of bands formed in the highly active “So-Cal” hardcore scene of Fullerton, Orange County, comprised Mike Palm (vocals, guitar), Steve “Soto” Rodgers (bass) and Scott Miller (drums). However, Rodgers left early in their development to form another local punk attraction, the Adolescents. His replacement was James Levesque who has since been replaced by Brent Liles (ex-Social Distortion)

Agent Orange remained largely quiet during the early part of the 90s save for a live album. Palm returned in 1996 with two new members and a studio album, Virtually Indestructible.
